How common is a 396 small block?

just 13 more cubes that a 383 which is probably one of the most common hot rod motor, a few months back i saw an article with a 396 small block. 4.030" x 3.875" well i've got a 4.040" prepped block in my garage that was originally just going to be a 357ci motor but now i'm thinking a 396 sounds even better. I know you can build a small block a million different ways but i'd like to have something a little more unique about mine
